Our Story

Safe Harbor Seafoods was born out of a desire to provide the best quality seafood directly to the public, no middlemen necessary.

My wife Susie and I bought the fishing vessel Jo El in 2018 and have been producing both fresh and frozen seafood ever since.  We currently fish for Salmon, Tuna, Halibut, Lingcod and Rockfish.  Aboard the Jo El all of our fish are caught by hook and line, one at a time.  This allows us to take care of each fish individually, upholding the highest quality standards.  We take care of these fish like we're feeding our own family and we think it shows.

Since the inception of the Yaquina Lab and the Central Coast Food Web we've expanded our offerings and now have smoked salmon and tuna options alongside our blast frozen individual portions.  At times throughout the year we buy seafood we don't catch from our friends' boats, mainly because we like to eat them too.  We have also partnered with Sportsmen's Cannery in Winchester Bay, Oregon to bring our own canned albacore tuna directly to the public.  We're excited to connect, feel free to reach out with any questions and maybe we'll see you around the docks in Newport, stop by and say hello!
